Conventional Oil Change
Conventional mineral oil is refined from crude oil, and it keeps your vehicle's engine lubricated. However, it may begin to leave sludge near the end of its lifespan, which isn't very long, comparatively. You will need to have conventional oil changed about every 3,000 miles or eerie three months -- whichever comes first.
Synthetic Oil Change
Synthetic oil lasts much longer than conventional oil. In fact, at Tri County Toyota, we recommend having it changed once a year or every 10,000 miles -- whichever comes first. But synthetic oil is better in many other ways, too. It's better at keeping your engine lubricated, and it also helps to keep the engine clean due to detergent additives and fewer impurities. Its improved performance means that it can stand up to intense heat and cold much better, as well.
Semi-Synthetic Oil Change
Synthetic oil does cost more than conventional oil. If you're not sure about making the switch to synthetic, consider starting with semi-synthetic oil. This allows you to get some of the benefits of synthetic at a lower cost.
Diesel Oil Change
If you drive a vehicle with a diesel engine, you already know that the oil it requires is different from the engine oil that gas-powered vehicles use. Not only does the oil tend to be a different weight, but it also contains extra additives that aren't found in oil that's meant for gas engines.
