The Function of Brake Rotors

The brake rotors are disc-shaped parts attached to the wheels of the vehicle. When you engage the brakes of your Toyota, the brake calipers squeeze the brake pads on both sides of the brake rotors generating friction and heat. The friction generated slows down the wheels' rotation and brings your vehicle to a stop. The brake rotors are critical to the overall function of the brake mechanism and must be inspected regularly to ensure they are not warped or have developed grooves.

Brake Rotor Resurfacing

If the brake rotors have been damaged, they can be made smooth again through brake rotor resurfacing. Our technicians will place the rotor on a specially designed lathe machine to even out and polish the surface of the rotors by removing a thin layer of metal from the surface. These services can help restore optimum brake performance and maximize the life of the brake rotors.

Brake Rotor Replacement

The brake rotor resurfacing only works if the damage on the rotors is minor and there is enough thickness remaining on the rotors. If that is not the case, a brake rotor replacement is needed. In some cases, getting new brake rotors installed is more cost-effective than getting brake rotor resurfacing multiple times to restore proper braking performance.
